There was a time I avoided mirrors.

I would walk into the gym in my small town in the USA, keep my head down, lift what I could, and leave before anyone noticed me. I told myself I was “trying.” But deep down, I felt weak — not just in my body, but in my mind.

I wasn’t just struggling to build muscle.
I was carrying years of regret.

Regret for quitting sports in high school.
Regret for letting stress control my habits.
Regret for every time I told myself, “You’ll never look strong.”

The Easy and Effective NLP Mindset Technique (Step-by-Step)

This is the exact process I used — the way a genuine NLP trainer would guide it.

Step 1: Identify the Root Regret

Sit quietly. Close your eyes.

Ask yourself:

“When did I first feel not strong enough?”

For me, it was a memory from high school — being picked last for a sports team.

Notice the memory clearly:

  • What do you see?
  • What do you hear?
  • What do you feel in your body?

Don’t avoid it. Observe it.


Step 2: Shrink the Memory

Now imagine that memory as a small image in front of you.

Make it black and white.
Push it further away.
Shrink it until it’s tiny — like a small photo in the distance.

Notice how your emotional intensity lowers.

This simple mental shift weakens the emotional charge attached to regret.


Step 3: Replace the Identity

Now create a new mental movie.

See yourself:

  • Walking confidently into the gym
  • Lifting with controlled strength
  • Standing taller
  • Wearing clothes that fit your stronger body

Make this image bright.
Make it colorful.
Bring it closer.
Turn up the sound of encouragement.

In NLP, this is called “submodality shift.” You’re literally changing how your brain codes the experience.

Repeat this daily.

Your brain starts accepting this stronger identity as normal.


Step 4: Anchor Confidence Physically

While visualizing your stronger self, press your thumb and finger together firmly.

Hold that feeling of strength for 10 seconds.

Do this repeatedly.

Soon, pressing your fingers together will trigger that confident state automatically — even before workouts.
